TELEMATICS
Telematics is the use of information and communication technology to send, receive and store data from telecommunication devices. Telematics can be used with a variety of technologies to help track vehicles, assets and people, the most common technology used for this is Global Positioning System (GPS) which uses satellites orbiting above the earth to accurately position the vehicle, asset or person being tracked.
Vehicle Telematics
Vehicle Telematics is the use of tracking units to accurately send, receive and store data from vehicles or fleets of vehicles. It can be used to simply track the vehicle as it travels or it can be used to send data back about engine use, braking, idling, heat, tachometer status, turbo pressure, fuel used per trip, actual fuel consumption and actual speed.
